At the Beach

low tide

Here at the beach, I watch
how the tide moves out,
leaving me broken sea shells
to gather, left and right
beneath the November sky.

Grains of sand,
caught in sea’s embrace,
so soon to be swept away
by the turbulent waves,
unpredictable like the wind.

Here at the beach, I watch
how the tide moves out,
leaving me with my memories
to gather, left and right,
such is the surge of Life.
